The festival and Cowes Week reaches its climax in a rousing celebration of British music and flag-waving, including Pomp & Circumstance, Jerusalem and many more, with this year being extra special; tying in with Cowes Week's 200th anniversary celebrations. Starring G4's MIKE CHRISTIE and the WIGHT PROMS CONCERT ORCHESTRA, conducted by the Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra's JONATHAN BUTCHER. Featuring the orchestral première of ‘The Voice of Nature’ which festival founder Mike Christie wrote to honour Sir David Attenborough's 100th birthday this year, as well as the official song for Walk the Wight he wrote, 'Walk the Wight With You'. Iconic Northwood House is set in beautiful Northwood Park in the heart of Cowes. The Estate has a rich history of hosting events and celebrations of all kinds.
Purchased in 1793 by George Ward, a successful London merchant, the House was rebuilt and extensively decorated by his son, George Henry Ward. Many lavish parties were thrown by the Wards throughout the Victorian era when the Island was a popular destination for the Royal family. Queen Victoria’s own children often came over from Osborne House along with the rich and famous from all over Great Britain, to enjoy the high society soirées hosted at the House.
