The Taittinger Royal Solent Yacht Club Regatta

The Taittinger Royal Solent Yacht Club (RSYC) Regatta is one of the most anticipated and celebrated sailing events on the English South Coast. Hosted by the prestigious Royal Solent Yacht Club in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, this annual regatta is renowned for its perfect blend of competitive racing in the Western Solent and a vibrant, high-spirited social scene, famously lubricated by its title sponsor, Taittinger Champagne.

This year’s Taittinger RSYC Regatta will be held over the weekend Friday 24 July until Sunday 26 July.  The racing itself is a key component, with two races schedule on Saturday and one on Sunday and is open to a wide array of boat classes, ensuring a spectacular sight on the water.

The regatta is synonymous with a lively and welcoming atmosphere, kicking off with the iconic Taittinger Champagne Reception on the lawns of the Royal Solent Yacht Club. The legendary Towers Party is held on the Saturday night at the neighbouring Towers. This event is a major social gathering, featuring live music, food, and fireworks, and also serves as a significant fundraiser for various charities.

Throughout the weekend, the Royal Solent Yacht Club becomes a bustling hub of activity. A spectacular prize giving takes place after racing on Sunday with some extra prize draws from sponsors that are a real bonus for the sailors.

The long-standing partnership between the Royal Solent Yacht Club and Taittinger has been instrumental in shaping the regatta’s character, infusing it with a sense of elegance and celebration that sets it apart. The Taittinger RSYC Regatta is more than just a series of races; it’s a full-fledged social event that celebrates the sport of sailing in style.

Wight Hot Pipes

A five -piece Celtic Rock band playing covers from all genres with vocals and bagpipes, playing large functions to theme nights, New Years eve parties and international events. With a prime slot on the Glastonbury Croissant Neuf Stage in 2019 (where Ed Sheeran made his Glastonbury debut), and their album ‘Any Time It Rains’ released in June 19, Wight Hot Pipes are really making their mark. Hailing from the musically-creative shores of the Isle of Wight, Wight Hot Pipes are an internationally acclaimed five-piece band who commanded a standing ovation at the BBKing Club in Broadway Manhattan in 2017.

Diverse and eclectic, Wight Hot Pipes deliver a mix of musical genres which fuse in their melodic melting pot to create an exhilarating cocktail of flavours; spanning the entire spectrum from celtic all the way through to contemporary dance and gritty rock. With original pennings and covers including ‘Starlight’ and ‘Galway Girl’ the album, ‘Any Time It Rains’ is a 13-track collection that will leave you feeling energised and invigorated.

But it’s the sheer twist of bagpipes within their instrumental line-up that kicks the roof out of every venue they play. This, combined with the genius talent of lead singer, Tori, that give WHP absolute stand-out. Thought you knew bagpipes – think again! Wight Hot Pipes just brought the pipes smashing into rock music with an edgy attitude that ignites the room and whips up nothing short of euphoria. Their image and sound screams out from the sea of other bands, and Wight Hot Pipes are carving an indelible print onto the experiential journey of their ever-growing audience – once seen and heard, the charisma and the band is never forgotten. Wight Hot Pipes have taken piping to the next level – the Wight Hot Pipes revolution is coming, embrace it! And now with the added thrill of fire breathing bagpipes ! Unique and exciting.
