The Taittinger Royal Solent Yacht Club Regatta
The Taittinger Royal Solent Yacht Club (RSYC) Regatta is one of the most anticipated and celebrated sailing events on the English South Coast. Hosted by the prestigious Royal Solent Yacht Club in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, this annual regatta is renowned for its perfect blend of competitive racing in the Western Solent and a vibrant, high-spirited social scene, famously lubricated by its title sponsor, Taittinger Champagne.
This year’s Taittinger RSYC Regatta will be held over the weekend Friday 24 July until Sunday 26 July. The racing itself is a key component, with two races schedule on Saturday and one on Sunday and is open to a wide array of boat classes, ensuring a spectacular sight on the water.
The regatta is synonymous with a lively and welcoming atmosphere, kicking off with the iconic Taittinger Champagne Reception on the lawns of the Royal Solent Yacht Club. The legendary Towers Party is held on the Saturday night at the neighbouring Towers. This event is a major social gathering, featuring live music, food, and fireworks, and also serves as a significant fundraiser for various charities.
Throughout the weekend, the Royal Solent Yacht Club becomes a bustling hub of activity. A spectacular prize giving takes place after racing on Sunday with some extra prize draws from sponsors that are a real bonus for the sailors.
The long-standing partnership between the Royal Solent Yacht Club and Taittinger has been instrumental in shaping the regatta’s character, infusing it with a sense of elegance and celebration that sets it apart. The Taittinger RSYC Regatta is more than just a series of races; it’s a full-fledged social event that celebrates the sport of sailing in style.
